Litho, Digital and Large Format Printing Norwich
Litho Printing – For Large Runs
Litho printing gives you faster and more accurate printing through the use of digitally created plates. The plates are inked, and the image is then transferred onto a rubber blanket and then onto the surface to be printed, in a similar way to a traditional print press or typewriter. An old process which works so well that although it’s been brought bang up to date, the basics are still the same.
Digital Printing
Digital printing uses electronic files and ‘dots’ to produce your image using ink and toner in different combinations of four colours which are blended to produce just the right colour. You’d be amazed by the number of different combinations and colours available. If you’ve ever seen the top of a paint can before they put the lid on and stick it in the shaking machine, you’ve an idea of the complexity involved (you’ve ordered green paint, and yet you can see they’ve added some red!). Your artwork with your chosen colour combinations is then printed directly from the computer, for a smooth finish.
Digital printing has some advantages
- For small print runs, it’s very cost effective
- It allows more freedom to add personalisation to each item (number, name etc)
- The digital printing machines can do finishing too (folding, stapling, perforation etc)
